A Final Exchange Between Jesus and Peter
This meditation is based on a passage for April 2, 2010 in the Daily Lectionary Year 2 from the Book of Common Worship for the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) (1993).
Text: John 13:36-38
Reflection and Question: This is a short passage, but enough for our prayerful reflection on this day of days — that of Jesus’ betrayal, trial and death. Peter stands in for us all as he professes readiness to lay down his life for Jesus, while the fact is that he will shortly deny his connection to Jesus to save himself, not once, but three times. And Jesus knows it. This is what I know: Jesus knows our strength and our weakness and loves us to the end. It is good to take time today to dwell in our hearts and minds and souls upon the doings of this day so long ago. What makes your heart tremble today?
